83 % du patrimoine génétique du vanillier élucidé : Communiqué de presse

La quasi-totalité de la vanille commercialisée dans le monde est le fruit d’une seule espèce : Vanilla planifolia. La faible diversité génétique des vanilliers cultivés rend la filière particulièrement sensible aux risques, climatiques ou sanitaires. En publiant la séquence de 83 % du génome du Vanilla planifolia, un consortium de recherche, coordonné par le Cirad à La Réunion, ouvre la porte à la création mieux ciblée et plus rapide de nouvelles variétés. Les travaux sont publiés dans Plant communications.
